Corals Under Crisis
Over half of the coral reef cover across the world has been lost, and a further 70–90% of coral reefs are projected to decline if global warming exceeds 1.5°C. Safeguarding our existing coral species and restoring lost habitats are more needed than ever.
Delta Electronics Foundation (Delta) and Taiwanese Coral Reef Society (TCRS) will be hosting the Delta International Symposium on Coral Restoration (DISCR) on August 21-22, 2025, to bring together experts across difference oceans, highlighting the latest science and actions for conserving and restoring coral reefs.
The 2025 DISCR will focus on taking actions for coral conservation & restoration. As coral biology is incredibly complex and still largely unexplored, effective coral conservation & restoration will require an integrated approach grounded in science. Therefore, the 2025 DISCR includes multidisciplinary sessions covering reef survey, taxonomy, coral heat-resilience, coral aquaculture, restoration techniques and more.
